Travel Insurance Update

travel insurance update

Travel insurance is about to become a hot topic with borders opening up and international travel restarting.

Brokers will have a vital role to play in helping customers navigate the new exclusions and changes to travel insurance policies as a result of COVID-19 – we’ll also be there at claim time when our customers need us the most.

COVID-19 is now a “known event’. This can impact medical or cancellation expenses relating to contracting the disease, or from changes to travel plans that result from quarantine measures.

As countries open up and travel resumes it is imperative clients understand where they stand in relation to their travel insurance cover. Medical or cancellation expenses relating to contracting the disease, or from changes to travel plans that result from quarantine measures could have significant financial impact.

Allsafe have been talking to our markets to find out exactly where they stand in relation to Covid, the new underwriting criteria and what exclusions apply.

We’re also getting in touch with many of our corporate customers who have lapsed their policies over the last 18 months to see what their future travel plans look like.

The good news is there are some new options available that will include cover for Covid related medical matters but we expect the market will remain fluid for the next six to 12months, so it will be critically important for customers to check and recheck their Product Disclosure Statements and/or receive advice from a broker before travelling.
